You have fallen into a deep shaft just inside the entrance to the temple. This would not have happened if you had the proper lighting and a good guide. You should look more at the information about ancient Egypt on Reeder's Egypt Page so you don't fall into any more holes. For now you must find the sacred scarab. Scroll down a little way and when you find it just click on it and it will take you up out of this dark shaft.
